Guidelines
General Rules for SCON Students
- Every staff member must register for library membership by filling out the prescribed form.
- Student membership shall be registered based on the list submitted by the institutional administrative office.
- All library members must show their Identity Card / Library Card / Smart Card issued by the respective institute or library when using library facilities.
- Library resources (such as books, journals, periodicals, CDs, DVDs, etc.) shall be issued according to the circulation guidelines of the respective institute.
- Members must return any issued resource/book if requested by the library at any time.
- Members must return or renew issued resources on or before the due date.
- Failure to return or renew resources within the specified time will result in a fine as per the circulation policy of the respective institute.
- A member losing a library resource shall follow the replacement rules as per the circulation policy of SIU.
- Members entering the library must keep their bags and other belongings outside the library at their own risk.
- Members wishing to take books or notebooks inside the library must enter the details in the register at the security gate.
- Members are allowed to take photocopies of required content from reference books or current issues of periodicals only with prior permission from library staff.
- Members must not write on, damage, or mark any signs/symbols/remarks on any library book.
- If a member picks the wrong book from a shelf, they should place it on the book trolley or the nearest table, and not reshelf it themselves.
- Members must not deface, mark, cut, mutilate, or damage library resources in any way. Such actions will result in a heavy penalty.
- Members are not allowed to issue any library resource to another person.
- Members may suggest or recommend books that are useful for their studies through the SIU OPAC (http://symbiosis-koha.informindia.co.in).
- All members must follow the disciplinary rules of SIU while inside the library.
- Members must maintain silence inside the library.
- Members are requested to keep their mobile phones switched off or in silent mode while in the library.
- Conversations are not permitted in any part of the library.
- Members leaving the library must cooperate with the checkout mechanism and security staff.
- Cutting news items or any part of a newspaper is strictly prohibited.
- Beverages and eatables are not allowed inside the library.
- No photographs of the library are to be taken without prior permission from the Librarian.
- All students must be decently dressed in the library, as required in classrooms.
- The University Librarian/ Library In-Charge reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misbehaving, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner
Membership
Membership is automatically extended to:
- Faculty (Full time and Visiting) and staff of Symbiosis College of Nursing.
SCON Library Rules
Library access requires a valid SCON library card. Members must follow the dress code, maintain discipline, and bring their own materials. Misbehavior or rule violations may lead to termination of membership.
- Students, Faculty and Staff of SCON avail the facility by producing the Library card of the SCON. Library-card is the only mandatory criteria to avail SCON library membership.
- Members should adhere to the dress code of the institute.
- Reading Hall Members should carry their own material for study.
- Library will terminate the member in case of misbehavior / violation of rules.

Inter Library Loan (ILL)
Need a book not available at SCON Library?
We arrange inter-library loans from other Symbiosis libraries for academic and research
use by SCON members.
- Request with full bibliographic details via WEB-OPAC.
- Handle borrowed materials carefully and return them on time.
New Additions of Books
Library brings out a monthly list of books added to the collection. This list is sent to the library users over the email.
Document Delivery Service
SCON Library provides access to full-text articles from subscribed databases.
- If unavailable, it’s sourced via the parent institute
- For registered users only.
Referral Services
Need help finding a book, journal, or article?
We offer personalized assistance to locate materials within the library or beyond.

Plagiarism Checking Service
SCON Library offers plagiarism screening using Turnitin, a top originality-check tool provided by SIU Central Library.
- Available for student assignments, dissertations, and faculty research.
- Prior intimation required for access.

Web OPAC
Explore, Search & Manage Your Library Account
Web OPAC is an Online Public Access Catalogue which allows library users avail the services of the library using Internet. Every library member gets the access of Web OPAC where he/she can check his/her circulation history, recommend new book titles to the library, create own reading list of favourite books etc.

Following are the E-Resources
Library members can get the access of all e-resources on library portal. To access these e-resources you should have the login credentials for it. Every year newly admitted student’s registration is done according to their course duration by the librarian.
Once the registration is completed members get the access of all e-resources purchased by the SIU Central library. Also, all institutionally subscribed databases, e-books and e-journals can be accessed through this library portal.
