Introduction

Critical care nurses are essential in areas such as emergency departments and intensive care units. This course is designed to enhance the critical care knowledge and clinical skills of nurses.

OBJECTIVES

Equip nurses to manage critically ill and unstable patients effectively.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of admission.

2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of: Higher Secondary school certificate Examination (12 years course), Or Senior School certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degree Examination (10+2) Or An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or University with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 45% aggregate marks (PCBE) passing one at the same time.

3. Candidate shall be medically fit.

Entrance / Selection test

Selection of the candidates should be based on the merit of the entrance examinations obtained by the candidate.

1. Objective

The objective of the course is to train nurses in the field of critical care, focusing on the care of critically ill or unstable patients. Critical care nurses are essential in a variety of areas such as the emergency department and intensive care units.

2. Duration

6 Months (every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Number of Seats: 10 students

5. Eligibility

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

1. M.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc. Nursing / General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or equivalent

2. ANM (with a minimum of 3 years of experience in critical care)

3. Registered with any State Nursing Council.

6. Selection Procedure

Candidates will be selected based on their Academic Qualifying Examination and MNC (Medical Nursing Council).

Program Outcome: Advanced Certificate Course in Critical Care Nursing (ACCCN)

Upon successful completion of the Advanced Certificate Course in Critical Care Nursing (ACCCN), participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate advanced nursing skills in critical care settings, including intensive care units (ICUs), emergency departments, and other high-dependency care areas.
  • Apply evidence-based practices to manage critically ill patients, ensuring timely, safe, and effective care.
2. Comprehend Critical Care Concepts
  • Understand the pathophysiology of critical illnesses and integrate this knowledge into daily nursing practice.
  • Recognize and respond to life-threatening conditions, utilizing appropriate clinical interventions.
3. Utilize Advanced Monitoring and Technology
  • Operate and interpret advanced patient monitoring equipment, such as ventilators, cardiac monitors, and other critical care devices.

Eligibility Criteria

  • B.Sc Nursing/General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or equivalent.
  • Auxiliary Nursing Midwifery (ANM) with at least 3 years of critical care experience.
  • Must have valid registration with any state nursing council.

Fee Structure

  • Registration Fee: ₹500 to be paid at time of admission
  • Academic Fee: ₹13,000 (Payable in two instalments of ₹6,500 each)

Selection procedure

Selection of a candidate to this programme is based on his/her performance in the following:-

  • Fulfillment of eligibility criteria as per Indian Nursing Council (INC)
  • Entrance examination marks (50% weightage) and merit base
  • Minimum 50% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • Personal interview.
