Overview
In today’s scenario, there is a huge demand for nurses to work abroad. Registers Nurses and Midwives in India who aspire to seek overseas jobs particularly in UK, USA or Australia, on completion of their education and training from B.Sc./ GNM program have to clear various language and nursing competency assessment test before they get placement. Although uniform curriculum stipulated by INC is followed across the country, the implementation by various institutions differ and it is observed that they possess varying levels of nursing competency /skill sets that require updating and strengthening. Based on the recommendations of MOH & FW, INC has designed curriculum for a three month of bridge program.
The overall aim of this bridge program is to combine theoretical knowledge with clinical skills in order to orient the nurses regarding nursing care practices and health care delivery norms along with enhancing country specific language skills so that Indian nurses have expertise and confidence to deliver safe and effective care in their intended area of practice to a diverse range of people and have a smooth transition in overseas placement.
